       International Symposium on History of Machines and Mechanisms

 

November 10-14, 2008

Tainan, TAIWAN


 

The aim of the Symposium is to establish an international forum for presenting and discussing historical developments in the field of Machine and Mechanism Science (HMM).  This is a third event of a Symposium series that has been started in 2000 in Cassino, Italy .

Paper Submission

Full papers SHOULD be submitted electronically in PDF format according to guidelines in the webpage. Please indicate the corresponding author to (hmm08@conf.ncku.edu.tw).

Registration Fee

The registration fee includes the complete program of the Symposium and Proceedings.

PARTICIPANTS: US300 (before 15 October 2008)

US350 (after 15 October 2008).

STUDENTS and ACCOMPAINING PERSONS:

US200 (without Proceedings)

Payment should be made by sending a check or bank transfer to the Symposium Chairman indicating HMM08.

Location

HMM 2008 will be held at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, TAIWAN , R.O.C. NCKU, established in 1931, is a comprehensive university consisting of eight colleges, namely, liberal arts, science, engineering, electrical engineering and computer science, planning and design, social sciences, medicine, and management. The main campus of the university, where the conference will be held, is situated at the center of the Tainan City. For further information of the university, please visit the website: http://www.ncku.edu.tw/Tainan is located in the southern part of Taiwan , which was the capital city of Taiwan during the 18th and 19th centuries. This city is famous for the legacy of culture by the Chinese immigrants, such as, temples and shrines.

Accommodation

In Tainan there are several hotels of all the categories. The average cost for a 4-star hotel is about US90. Early reservation is recommended by contacting directly hotels or through the HMM08 Secretariat. A list of hotels will be announced on the HMM08 website.

Transportation

International participants are encouraged to fly to Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH), about 50 Km south of Tainan. There are flights from Hong Kong (75 minutes) and Taoyuan CKS Airport (50 minutes) to KHH. Surface transportation will be provided by the Symposium at KHH Airport to the hotels in Tainan. Further information regarding other options of transportation will be posted on the conference website.
